I agree with vast majority of what I read

I agree with what I read on this subject. There is no silver bullet. My answer to both Mac and PC fanatics would be the rise of Linux boxes in other parts of the computing landscape. They haven't hit here, (graphic arts) but if Adobe, Macromedia, Quark or other large software houses were to port their software to work on a Red Hat Linux Distro (as an example), watch out!
Graphic artists would be truly free to find that both Intel and Mac (with Yellow Dog Linux) hardware would be quicker (and less expensive because of the lower cost of the OS). Also, some older boxes would be able to run longer, which would be a boost to the bottom line. Plus there are some alternatives to standard programs, GIMP for Photoshop and Konqueror for Illustrator. Those would be less expensive to start and users could enjoy the efforts of many different developers who could extend the functionality of the software at reduced costs. But for now, it's just a dream...

In reality, whatever works for you, works for you. No apologies needed for your choice of platform anymore. In the pre-press world, they are slowly moving to adoption of a PDF based workflow, so the real issue will become whose PDF generator you're using rather than Quark vs. InDesign, Mac vs. Windows, etc....

Mac vs. PC

I think this article is completely objective and although the truth hurts - it clearly states the facts. Apple is clearly the leader regarding innovation, but is certainly lacking in performance and keeping up with the Jones'. I am on a Dell 2.4 Ghz XP at work and a G4 dual 800 at home. My personal choice is my Mac and the flawless 10.2 OS hands down. The reality of my situation is the PC edges out the Mac in Photoshop filters, plugins, and video editing. However, when I have Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark open at the same time, no matter what size files I have open, the XP is pathetic in memory management causing me to reboot 2-3 times a day. What the PC has in single program performance it sorely lacks in overall system stability. Apple is barely keeping up in the performance race - why that is I do not know.
