Only correction: Nikon D-SLRs do allow the shutter to be opened for cleaning without an AC adaptor.

This is a bible for cleaning your camera

I cleaned my digital SLR camera using this article as a guide and had no trouble at all, but of course the next time I tried, I forgot all that very good advice and created a mess that required manafacturer repair... Stick to these guidelines!!
